Because It Seemed Inadequate…
We know how he feels. We have shared his honest doubt and prejudice. Some of us have been violently anti-religious. To others, the word “God” brought up a particular idea of Him with which someone had tried to impress them during childhood. Perhaps we rejected this particular conception because it seemed inadequate. With that rejection we imagined we had abandoned the God idea entirely. Source
Beginning with the original sin in the Garden of Eden mankind has attempted to “hide” from God. This is like trying to hide the sun from the moon. Since God already knows who we are and what we are going to do it is merely our false pride that tells us we can get away with committing this sin or that sin and “no one will know”. Well, good luck with that idea.
This exact same principal applies to our relationship with Jesus Christ. We deny it, for whatever reason, that doesn’t change the fact that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. It doesn’t change the fact that all God’s children, all 7.4 billion of us, must meet and invite Jesus Christ into our heart, mind and soul in order to enter God’s Kingdom. Sure you can enter into any number of other kingdoms, none of which seem to fit with my beliefs, but it will not be where the King of kings resides.
How many excuses people share for turning their back on God and for rejecting the idea of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. All the excuses can be boiled down to one simple idea – because it seemed inadequate. How misguided can one be? It’s okay for this to happen. It’s okay for people to go astray. After being lost for some 25 years the picture is clear – Jesus Christ is a loving and forgiving God. The Holy Spirit is a gracious host that happily holds our hand as our sorrow fades into joy.

We love helping others and believe that’s one of the reasons we are chosen as Ambassadors of the Kingdom, to serve God’s children. We look to the Greatest Commandment as our Powering force.
Yes, we of agnostic temperament have had these thoughts and experiences. Let us make haste to reassure you. We found that as soon as we were able to lay aside prejudice and express even a willingness to believe in a Power greater than ourselves, we commenced to get results, even though it was impossible for any of us to fully define or comprehend that Power, which is God. As Pastor Mike, The Gospel Church, explained a few weeks ago, “God is never surprised.” Just like was explained above, He already knows the words that will be typed and the hearts that will be touched. He knows everything. So, if you think the idea of Jesus Christ being inadequate is new or special or “out-of-the-blue”, it’s quiet common and well known to God.
When one awakens to see the Light the mystery spelled out here becomes exactly what it is – just another day attempting to glorify God and sing His praises. Since most of us have already been in this position its easy to help another to see the door, show them the knob and let them turn the key that opens the door to a life unimagined.
